25 Years of 20 Minuten. A Front-Page Kind of Party

When Switzerland’s biggest commuter paper turns 25, it makes headlines. Literally. To celebrate the speed and relevance of a true market leader, we turned the front page into a living memory: packed with photos and stories from the evening, printed and handed «hot off the press» to guests as they left the party.

The first issue of 20 Minuten hit the streets in December 1999. Fast forward 25 years, and over 400 guests – including Swiss Federal Councillor Albert Rösti – came together at Papiersaal Zurich to raise a glass.

After arriving in the foyer, guests entered a maze of rooms where they could experience 20 Minuten like never before. Each of the seven spaces was inspired by one of the paper’s signature sections. The “Switzerland” room? Turned into an art gallery featuring works by Swiss artists visualising their relationship with 20 Minuten. The “Break” section? A mysterious little corner complete with a fortune teller. But to get in, you had to lie down on a rolling bed and let it carry you through a secret passage. No joke.

Upstairs, things escalated fast – in the best way. Live acts by ESC star Nemo, singer Naomi Lareine, and rapper Stress lit up the stage. DJs Tami Glauser and Johnny Bossco kept the floor shaking till sunrise.
